Manhattan’s power grid is so loaded up with electricity, it sometimes can’t take any more power from rooftop solar installations, said Shyam Mehta, Executive Director of the New York Solar Energy Industries Association.

That means that if you try to build something bigger than a residential solar system in Manhattan, “you run into the issue that the grid isn’t able to accommodate it,” Mehta said.
