New York Solar Energy Industries Association Launches Search for New Executive Director |
| Released on Nov 17 2011 |
ALBANY, NY, Nov. 17 -- The New York Solar Energy Industries Association has launched a search for a new executive director to succeed Gail Markels.
Effective Jan. 1, Markels is resigning from her role heading the industry association, in response to increasing obligations with other clients, which include the American Legal Finance Association (ALFA), Activision, the Motion Picture Association and the International Data Group. Markels is Executive Director of ALFA and also serves other clients nationwide through her New York-based consultancy, Markels Strategies.
“Gail established NYSEIA as New York’s leading advocate for the solar industry. She more than doubled membership, upgraded our communications systems, developed our Web site into a real educational platform and positioned NYSEIA well for exponential growth,” said Ron Kamen, NYSEIA President. “Her leadership, experience and vision will be missed. The association was fortunate to have someone of her caliber on board to create breakout growth. The association intends to continue the trajectory and capitalize on our momentum.”
“Due to my expanded responsibilities on behalf of other clients, I am unable to devote the amount of time necessary to continue to grow NYSEIA,” Markels said. “It’s entering an exciting phase where it will benefit from a dedicated Executive Director. It’s been a tremendously positive experience working with the solar industry, and I look forward to seeing the continued growth of solar in NY, the U.S., and the world.”
NYSEIA is seeking a new executive director to manage and lead the membership association made up of solar electric PV and solar thermal companies with the responsibilities of increasing membership and revenue streams; directing and executing government and legislative strategies; creating and maintaining training programs; and acting as an ambassador of the association and liaison with the public, government, affiliated organizations, and other stakeholders. Interested candidates can send their expressions of interest and resumes to: info(at)solar-ny(dot)org
